Cigar Women

Cigar-Smoking Women are Coming out of the Closet

Many women are boldly taking a place beside men in cigar bars, lounges, and board rooms across the world and lighting up their own stogies.

While the thought of a lipstick-tipped cigar may shock the sensibilities of some people, the truth of the matter is the cigar industry is throwing the doors wide open and welcoming women into the club. Granted, cigar smoking women still make up only a small percentage of the cigar market, yet, the cigar industry is smart. They know when something is a flash in the pan and when something is the real deal. Women and cigars are a combination that will only become more popular as the years roll by.

Cigar Industry and Women Smokers

It probably goes without saying that the cigar industry would welcome women cigar smokers with open arms. After all, cigar girls are another market and another consumer base. The truth is that when it comes to women and cigars, the market is only beginning to get tapped – and the dollar signs are dancing in the heads of the powers that be in the cigar industry.

The true question is what do men, the original cigar aficionados, think of cigar ladies? How do they feel about the fairer sex who is seated across from them in the once male populated cigar bars and boardrooms? Do they feel their territory has been invaded? Does the sight of a Cuban being smoked by someone with lipstick lips turn them off? The general consensus is…no. In fact, many men think that women with cigars are a turn-on.

Men, Women, Cigars

No longer are men sitting around smoking cigars and talking about women. They are sitting around smoking cigars and talking to women. Women and cigars are a heady combination for many men. The opinion of many men is the women who hold their heads high and enter into the testosterone-dominated world of cigar lounges are women who are secure in who they are.

These women know the taboos they have broken by crossing the threshold. They understand there will be people of both sexes who frown upon them. Yet, they do it anyway. This attracts many men because they know that the women seated across from them are not afraid to break the rules.

Women Who Smoke Cigars

So, who are these cigar puffing females? You might think that it is only professional, rich, famous, or young women who are lighting up. It’s true that women like Demi Moore, Jodie Foster, and Lauren Hutton kicked down the door for women cigar smokers. But the truth is women who like to puff on stogies can be found in all social backgrounds and age groups. From grandmas to college students, from Manhattan to rural Appalachia – there is sure to be a cigar smoking female in your midst.

How genuine are these women in their love for cigars? Well, some women may only smoke a ciar or two a month. Others may smoke one or more a day. One of the more famous cigar smoking women in history was the famous actress Lillian Russell. It's said that she smoked 500 small cigar a month.

Whether people agree that women should smoke cigars or not, the simple fact is they do and it doesn't appear they're going to quit anytime soon.
